The administration has confirmed that Sen. Imee Marcos will remain in its official senatorial slate, putting an end to speculations about her possible removal.
Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco, who was personally selected by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the slate’s campaign manager, dispelled speculations that Marcos might be dropped.
Tiangco Confirms Imee Marcos’ Place in the Administration Slate
“Definitely no plans to replace Senator Imee. Definitely. That’s 100 percent. She’s part of the Alyansa candidates,” Tiangco affirmed during a pre-campaign meeting.
Tiangco also hinted at Imee Marcos’ potential presence at campaign rallies but left some room for anticipation.
“I’m not Imee’s spokesperson, so it’s better for everyone to just wait and see—it’ll be more exciting that way. (‘Di naman ako spokesperson ni Imee eh, so mas mabuti abangan niyo na lang, para mas exciting para sa lahat),” he added.
The administration’s senatorial ticket is running under the newly formed coalition “Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which President Marcos introduced last September. Imee Marcos was among the 12 candidates he endorsed.
However, shortly after the announcement, the senator declared her withdrawal from the slate, citing her desire to stand independently and shield her brother from any political complications.
Despite her previous statement, the administration’s confirmation of her inclusion signals that she remains a key figure in the coalition’s strategy.
Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas Ramps Up Campaign Efforts
Meanwhile, Tiangco disclosed that the administration slate has committed to attending 21 campaign rallies nationwide.
President Marcos himself is set to appear at the kick-off rally in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, on February 11, underscoring the administration’s strong push for its chosen candidates.
