Detained televangelist Apollo Quiboloy has thrown his hat into the political ring, launching his senatorial campaign via a video message from behind bars.
Claiming divine inspiration, Quiboloy announced his mission to lead the Philippines toward becoming a first-world nation free from corruption.
Quiboloy’s Divine Justification for His Senate Run
Addressing supporters at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, the self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” declared, “It is the will of my father to let me enter the world of politics to bring direction, peace, and development to this country until it becomes a first-world country with zero corruption.”
Legal Battles and Political Ambitions Collide
Quiboloy, currently residing in the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Quezon City, faces charges of human trafficking and sexual abuse.
Despite these legal hurdles, he envisions a leadership role that transcends traditional politics, positioning himself as a divine leader poised to bring “blessings, prosperity, stability, and excellence to a strong and peaceful Philippines.”
Backing Sara Duterte and Eyeing Higher Office?
In his message, Quiboloy also expressed admiration for Vice President Sara Duterte, suggesting that the nation needs a chief executive with a vision akin to hers.
He hinted at his willingness to support such leadership or even assume the role himself if divinely appointed.
This development comes after the Commission on Elections dismissed a petition seeking to disqualify Quiboloy from the 2025 senatorial race, citing insufficient evidence.
As the campaign season unfolds, Quiboloy’s bid adds a controversial twist to the political landscape, blending faith, legal battles, and aspirations of national transformation.
