In a world where sustainability is becoming a key factor in consumer decisions, Project.ph is making waves in the fashion industry. Led by Lyca Accad, this innovative Filipino brand proves that style and sustainability are not mutually exclusive.

Let’s explore how Project.ph is redefining fashion while staying true to its roots.

From Thrifted Garments to Flour Sacks: The Birth of Project.ph

Project.ph’s journey began with a simple yet powerful concept: creating fashion that is not only beautiful but also eco-conscious. The team shared, “It all started with Lyca, our founder, giving new life to thrifted garments, and that really resonated with people.”

What began as a passion for upcycling has evolved into a thriving brand committed to sustainability, incorporating repurposed flour sacks as a key material in their designs. The brand’s mission is clear: “We want to prove that style and sustainability can go hand-in-hand.”

Personal Expression through Sustainable Fashion

What truly sets Project.ph apart is their focus on creating unique pieces that enable wearers to express their individuality. The team explained, “We don’t just make clothes; we help people express their individuality.”

From the signature katsa Filipiniana with butterfly sleeves to modern twists on classic styles, Project.ph proves that eco-friendly fashion can be as creative as it is conscious.

Supporting Filipino Artisans and Local Craftsmanship

At the heart of Project.ph’s mission is a commitment to supporting local Filipino artisans. “We work closely with talented home dressmakers, providing them with sustainable livelihoods.”

Their local sourcing strategy includes working with Tagaytay bakeries to source flour sacks, ensuring that their materials are as local as their labor force. By championing Filipino craftsmanship, Project.ph creates designs that are not only beautiful but deeply rooted in local culture.

Overcoming Obstacles: Innovating in the Face of Challenges

Like any growing brand, Project.ph has encountered its own set of challenges. One of the most pressing has been sourcing katsa fabric, an essential material for many of their designs.

The team shared, “Some brands have switched to using plastic sacks, which limits our options.” But despite this, Project.ph has consistently sought out alternative suppliers and explored innovative ways to repurpose plastic sacks in their designs.

“We actively seek out alternative suppliers, explore other materials, and are even looking into innovative ways to use plastic sacks sustainably in our designs.” Their resilience and creative problem-solving continue to drive the brand forward.

Expansion Plans: Project.ph Takes on North America

Looking to the future, Project.ph is ready to expand both locally and internationally. Starting in March, they will be launching pop-up shops to bring their sustainable designs directly to their customers.

The team shared, “We’ll be popping up at various locations on weekends, giving our customers a chance to experience Project.ph firsthand.” The brand is also setting its sights on North America, with the upcoming launch of ProjectUS in Los Angeles.

In addition, their partnership with Kasha, a sustainable shopping platform, is set to make their eco-conscious creations more accessible worldwide. “We’ve partnered with Kasha, a sustainable shopping platform, to make our eco-conscious creations more accessible to everyone.”

Project.ph is Redefining Sustainable Filipino Fashion

Project.ph continues to lead the charge in proving that sustainable fashion can be both stylish and meaningful. As the team boldly states, “We don’t just make clothes; we help people express their individuality.”

With a focus on supporting local artisans, using eco-conscious materials, and expanding their global reach, Project.ph is flipping the fashion game—forcing it to face the undeniable truth that sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s the future.
