Filipina Designers Team Up with Nike for Sabrina Ionescu’s Latest Sneaker

Three visionary Filipina designers—Aila Torre, Lari Gazmen, and Alessah Papa—have left their mark on the Nike Sabrina 2, reimagining the signature shoe of WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu.

In partnership with Titan, the Philippines’ premier basketball concept store, the trio infused their expertise and passion into a design that speaks to the growing influence of women in both sports and fashion.

More Than Just a Sneaker

This limited-edition release, named the Nike Sabrina 2 x Titan, carries a deeper meaning.

The neutral light bone base is elevated with hues of purple, emerald, and blush—echoing Titan’s ‘Show Her Love’ community initiative and honoring Ionescu’s legacy with the New York Liberty through touches of seafoam teal.

Beyond aesthetics, the shoe is a statement.

The inclusion of ‘Make Space’ typography and a Sabrina-inspired silhouette showcases the designers’ shared mission: to carve out more opportunities for women in basketball and creative industries.

“All I wanted was space. I found it in the game,” Ionescu said, emphasizing the essence of the design.

Meet the Minds Behind the Masterpiece

Bringing together their expertise in art, fashion, and sports, Aila Torre, Lari Gazmen, and Alessah Papa redefined what it means to merge creativity with basketball culture.

Torre, a former athlete and visual artist, injected her deep understanding of the game into the design. Gazmen, an experienced creative director, ensured the shoe carried a narrative of empowerment and resilience.

Meanwhile, Papa, leading Titan’s private label, applied her expertise in typography and graphics to craft a sneaker that embodies both style and purpose.

Together, they didn’t just redesign a shoe—they made a statement about the power of Filipina creatives in shaping the future of sportswear.

Designing with Purpose

Every detail in the Nike Sabrina 2 x Titan was crafted with intent.

The gradient Swoosh, inspired by the Fire Spinner plant, symbolizes the fiery passion that drives women in sports.

A graphic of empty bleachers on the insole serves as a reminder of the space being created for future generations of female athletes and creatives.

For Torre, Gazmen, and Papa, this project was an opportunity to push boundaries and merge sports, fashion, and artistry in a way that breaks convention.

With each design choice, they amplify the presence of Filipina creatives in spaces where they have long been underrepresented.

This collaboration is not just about a shoe—it’s about setting a precedent, proving that their vision and influence in sports and design are here to stay.

A Legacy in the Making

@slamonlineph

At the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, we asked stars the hard-hitting question: What’s the name of your Filipino friend and can they hoop? Of course we had to ask Sabrina Ionescu while she’s in Manila. Of course she has more than 1 Filipino friend. Can they hoop? You bet. #sabrinaionescu #wnba #basketball #sports #ball #filipino #filo #hoops #sneakers #nike #fyp

The Nike Sabrina 2 x Titan is a bold testament to the power of representation and innovation in sportswear.

“With this partnership, when anyone picks up this shoe, I want to give them hope on being able to accomplish whatever it is they want to do, whether it’s on the court or off it,” Ionescu expressed.

As the designers continue to break barriers, their work paves the way for more women to step up, take space, and redefine industries long dominated by men.

With this groundbreaking release, Torre, Gazmen, and Papa have not just designed a sneaker—they’ve made history.

Where to Get the Nike Sabrina 2 X Titan

Filipino basketball fans and sneaker enthusiasts will be the first to experience this exclusive release. Priced at PHP 8,095, the Nike Sabrina 2 X Titan will be available in Women’s US sizes 5 to 16.5 (Men’s US sizes 3.5 to 15).

The highly anticipated launch kicked off on March 11, 2025, at TITAN and NBA Store Philippines, setting a new milestone for local creatives and athletes alike.

Following its debut in the Philippines, a limited number of pairs will drop on March 15, 2025, at Sabrina Ionescu’s Asia Tour stops in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, alongside an online release on Nike.com SEA.

The sneaker will then make its global entrance on March 22, 2025, bringing this bold collaboration to the world stage.
