Angelina Jolie revealed her double mastectomy scars in a photo shoot for Time France, marking the launch of the magazine’s first French edition.
The images, photographed by Nathaniel Goldberg, appear on the cover and show the Oscar-winning actor openly displaying the physical marks left by her cancer-prevention surgeries.
“I share these scars with many women I love. And I’m always moved when I see other women share theirs,” Jolie told the magazine.
Jolie publicly disclosed in 2013 that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy, a surgical procedure involving the removal of both breasts to significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer, after learning she had a genetic predisposition to the disease.
She later revealed that she underwent a double oophorectomy in 2015. Her decision to make her medical choices public was widely credited with encouraging other women to undergo genetic testing and cancer screenings.
She also stressed the importance of equitable healthcare, saying access to cancer screening and treatment should not depend on financial resources or place of residence.
