PGMN Anchor Bing Guanzon confirmed that she will run for senator in the 2028 national elections and declared support for Sara Duterte as president.
Guanzon shared the announcement in Cebu in front of a boisterous crowd where she confirmed her intention to seek a seat in the Senate of the Philippines, and align her campaign with the current Vice President’s presidential bid.
“I announce my intention to run for senator and support Sara Duterte for Presidente,” Guanzon said.
A former commissioner of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Commission on Audit, Guanzon said her Senate bid will also carry a regional goal of restoring Visayan representation in the chamber.
“For 15 years there has been no Cebuano senator. We will reclaim our seat in the Senate,” Guanzon said.
Guanzon, who is from Negros Occidental and has family roots in Iloilo, said she speaks fluent Cebuano and intends to represent Visayan voices more strongly in national policymaking.
Her announcement comes as early political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2028 elections, where Sara Duterte has emerged as the strongest candidate in early presidential preference surveys and holds a commanding lead over other potential contenders in national polling.
Guanzon is currently a wildly popular Anchor at Peanut Gallery Media Network, where she hosts political commentary and discussions on governance and accountability. She is also the author of the legal reference book The Anti Sexual Harassment Act Notes and Cases, which has been catalogued by The Library of Congress in the United States, marking international recognition of her work on women’s rights law.
Her announcement places her among the earliest figures to formally declare a Senate bid for 2028 while aligning her campaign with the presidential run of Duterte, whose early survey lead is shaping the emerging national political landscape.
