The Department of Migrant Workers held a job fair focused on women job seekers during Women’s Month, offering overseas employment opportunities across several industries.
The “Mega Job Fair Para sa Kababaihan” was held at a mall in Quezon City and brought together licensed recruitment and manning agencies with available positions in healthcare, hospitality, construction, manufacturing and skilled trades.
DMW Undersecretary Bernard Olalia said the event aims to guide women seeking work abroad and protect them from illegal recruiters and scammers.
“Bilang pagkilala sa inyong paniniwala, kakayahan at paninindigan, isang special job fair ang iniaalay namin sa inyo upang kayo ay tulungan at bigyan ng tamang direksyon sa paghahanap ng trabaho abroad. Hindi lang basta trabaho. As a recognition of your beliefs, abilities, and principles, we are offering you a special job fair to help you and provide the right direction in finding a job abroad. Not just any job, but decent job opportunities because we want you to get the best jobs, fully protected and empowered,” he said.
Around 10 licensed recruitment agencies and two manning agencies participated in the one day event, offering approximately 2,500 approved job orders with destinations in the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, the Americas and Europe.
The job fair also featured pre employment orientation and anti illegal recruitment briefings to help applicants understand overseas employment procedures and avoid fraudulent recruiters.
Several government agencies were present to assist job seekers with documentation and employment services. Participating offices included the Social Security System, Pag-IBIG Fund, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Foreign Affairs, PhilHealth, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Quezon City Public Employment Service Office.
DMW offices such as the Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs were also on site to provide services during the job fair.
