Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has offered a ₱100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the fatal shooting of government engineer Karen Corsino Del Valle, according to a statement from the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Del Valle, an engineer assigned to the DPWH Northern Samar 1st District Engineering Office, was killed in the shooting that the agency confirmed in an official statement.
“The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) family mourns and condemns the fatal shooting of our colleague, Engineer Karen Corsino Del Valle of the DPWH Northern Samar 1st District Engineering Office,” the department said.
“DPWH stands in solidarity with Engr. Del Valle’s family and urges authorities to conduct a swift and thorough investigation.”
Authorities identified the suspect as Sgt. Jerome Lluz Tejero.
Dizon and former Northern Samar congressman Paul Daza each pledged ₱100,000 for information that could lead to Tejero’s arrest.
The department also confirmed that Del Valle’s brother was injured during the incident and remains in critical condition.
“We also pray for the speedy recovery of Engr. Del Valle’s brother, who was injured and is currently in critical condition,” the statement added.
Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the suspect.
