The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), led by Secretary Vince Dizon, and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), led by Secretary Giovanni Lopez, have agreed to take immediate action to improve infrastructure along Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA) to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and commuters.
“If you drive EDSA every day, it’s really stressful if you’re a commuter. We really need to fix this [EDSA] once and for all, as our President said.” Currently, EDSA has narrow pedestrian lanes, which can make walking along the avenue challenging. Secretaruy Dizon said.
To address this, the agencies plan to implement a short-term action plan that includes widening pedestrian lanes, adding shared bike lanes, repairing bus stops, upgrading pedestrian waiting sheds, and removing obstacles along commuter routes. These measures aim to make EDSA more accessible and commuter-friendly.
