The Senate of the Philippines just got a digital upgrade — one designed to bring government closer to the people.
Senate President Vicente Tito Sotto recently launched the redesigned Senate website, describing it as a tool to strengthen “transparency, accessibility, and accountability” between the chamber and Filipino citizens.
He said the new platform aims to “advance the public’s right to information and enhance citizen engagement with legislative processes.”
The revamped site features a cleaner, mobile-friendly interface designed to improve user experience. Citizens can now access information on pending and approved legislation, track committee activities, and view institutional updates.
It also offers live streaming of plenary sessions and committee hearings, giving Filipinos real-time access to legislative discussions and debates.
The redesign was developed under the Senate’s Information Technology Team, with oversight from the Office of the Senate Secretary. A section dedicated to public assistance and information services helps users navigate legislative resources more easily.
During the launch, Sotto acknowledged the efforts of Senate officials and staff involved in the project. The Senate’s official website, first introduced in the early 2000s, has since evolved into a more data-driven and user-friendly platform aimed at promoting transparency and citizen participation.
“We are launching a new Senate website that strengthens the commitments we made as a democratic institution — notably, the freedom of information, ease of access, transparency, and accountability to the Filipino people,” Sotto said.
The upgrade marks another step in the Senate’s push for digital transformation, giving citizens better access to public records and legislative proceedings.
