PGMN Anchor and former chairman of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Greco Belgica figured in a public social media exchange with entertainment columnist Ogie Diaz and lawyer Jesus Falcis following renewed debate over credibility, political record, and personal attacks tied to past statements.
The exchange began after a graphic circulated online quoting Belgica with the line, “Sa totoo lang, naniniwala pa ba ang tao kay Trillanes?” Diaz questioned why the statement was resurfaced years after it was made and defended former senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV. He also pressed Belgica on whether his position had changed and criticized what he described as selective attacks on political figures.
Belgica responded that the comment was made in October 2025 and was reposted recently. He said the statement remained consistent with his views and rejected accusations that he targets individuals without power.
In a lengthy post addressing the criticism, Belgica laid out his record in public service and anti-corruption work. He cited his role in initiating and pursuing cases linked to the pork barrel system, including cases that reached the Supreme Court and resulted in the invalidation of the Priority Development Assistance Fund. He said he filed and supported cases against senators, congressmen, Cabinet officials, bureau directors, and other high-ranking government officials while holding no elective position.
Belgica also detailed his tenure as chairman of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, where he said he led investigations, issued recommendations, and pushed for voluntary resignations of officials implicated in corruption. He noted that the commission’s authority was limited to investigation and recommendation, not prosecution or conviction, and said final action rested with the courts and oversight bodies. He added that he continued anti-corruption efforts outside government through public advocacy and documented case work.
As part of the same post, Belgica questioned Diaz and Falcis about their own public record and legal output, asking them to identify corruption cases they had filed or officials they had helped bring to court. He stressed that his actions were matters of public record.
Belgica said his intent was not confrontation but dialogue, writing, “I just want an honest and sincere talk with both of you na mahilig manlait sa akin at sa ibang tao na di nyo naman kilala.”
Following the exchange, the owner of Peanut Gallery Media Network publicly invited Diaz and Falcis to appear on PGMN for a discussion with Belgica, stating that both would be treated fairly and respectfully, consistent with how the network handles all guests. PGMN ownership is friends with all three parties.
