Voice talent and content creator Inka Magnaye has spoken out after facing criticism online for allegedly staying silent on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control controversy.
The backlash started after netizens pointed out that her boyfriend, Mat Crespo, works at DPWH Iloilo, with some accusing her of protecting him by not speaking up.
In a Facebook video, Magnaye pushed back against the claims, describing the situation as a “witch hunt” fueled by speculation.
She said she has not been silent, explaining that she has reposted and shared credible content on the issue while avoiding making statements that could risk her boyfriend’s livelihood.
“It’s kind of crazy how one post from an anonymous account was all the evidence some people needed to condemn us to a witch hunt,” she said.
Magnaye defended Crespo’s integrity, highlighting his academic and professional achievements and stressing that not everyone who works at a government agency is corrupt.
She added that while she understands the public anger over corruption, it should not result in harassment or false accusations.
“Please remember that speculation is not fact and to not be distracted from the people who are actually responsible,” she said.
Magnaye closed her statement by reiterating her stance against corruption, saying that both she and Crespo are taxpayers who want accountability for those found guilty of mishandling funds.
