Former senator and presidential candidate Mar Roxas has confirmed that he is not planning to return to national politics. The decision came after Atty. Race Del Rosario, RN, a long-time political supporter, posted on Facebook asking whether Roxas would consider running for a national position again.
In his response to Del Rosario, Roxas shared that he is currently focused on family life. He stated that he is well-established in retirement, spending his time raising his children and guiding his nephews, nieces, and other young people. Despite his deep commitment to the values of integrity and transparency, which have been central to his political career, Roxas emphasized that the current political climate is no longer appealing to him.
Roxas reiterated his belief in a corruption-free government, saying, “Indeed kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap,” underlining his long-held stance on governance. However, he made it clear that returning to public office is not part of his future plans, adding, “Wala na sa radar ko ang pagbabalik sa public life though I am always happy to help out especially if it’s for the good of our beloved country and people.”
Roxas’ response highlights his decision to step away from public service and prioritize his family. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from his volunteers and fellow supporters, affirming that he is still willing to help the country in other ways that do not involve holding a political position.
