President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered government agencies to submit biweekly updates on their projects to ensure progress, accountability, and transparency, according to Palace press officer Claire Castro.
Marcos issued the directive during a meeting with his economic team at Malacañang, emphasizing that submitted reports must be accurate. Castro said, “President Marcos Jr. will also order the monitoring of government agencies and their projects every two weeks to assess their progress. Do not attempt to submit false reports.”
She added, “What he said is that when reports are submitted, he does not want them to be inaccurate or sugarcoated just because monitoring occurs every two weeks.” Marcos warned that officials who deliberately submit false reports could face removal from office.
The biweekly monitoring initiative comes as part of the administration’s push to improve government performance and strengthen oversight of public funds. Other topics discussed during the meeting included accelerating digitalization, fast-tracking infrastructure projects, and completing classrooms and other priority programs.
Marcos reinforced his commitment to good governance after signing the ₱6.793-trillion national budget for 2026, vowing that his administration “will work to improve the system, strengthen accountability, and put an end to corruption.”
The move follows revelations of irregularities in flood control projects linked to billions of pesos in alleged corruption. Marcos’ directive signals a no-nonsense approach to ensuring government agencies focus on delivering results rather than pursuing other agendas or political interests.
