President Bongbong Marcos directed the Department of Agriculture to secure and distribute farm inputs early, stressing that support must reach farmers before planting season begins.
During a discussion with agriculture officials, Marcos emphasized lowering production costs and ensuring timely delivery of assistance. He said the government must move ahead of the cropping calendar to avoid delays that could affect harvests and supply.
“Kaya ang instruction ko sa Department of Agriculture, sabi ko, unang-una, at kung–, dapat eh… Habang maaga pa, bago pa magsimula ang planting season, dapat mayroon na tayong mga kinukuha na lahat ng mga ibang-ibang inputs na nandiyan na at ikalat na habang–, puwede naman natin ipag-antay ‘yan eh,” Marcos said.
He underscored that fertilizers, seeds, and other inputs should already be procured and ready for distribution before farmers begin planting. The directive aims to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smoother production cycles.
The Department of Agriculture reported ongoing efforts to improve access to farm support and reduce the burden of rising input costs. Marcos reiterated that improving farm productivity depends on lowering expenses at the ground level.
Food security remains a central priority of the administration, with farm assistance linked to stabilizing supply and managing food prices. Agriculture officials continue to monitor production conditions and coordinate with local governments to distribute support efficiently.
The President’s directive places urgency on early preparation, with the goal of protecting local output and strengthening domestic food production.
