The Philippines has been recognized as Asia’s Best Retirement Destination at the 11th TripZilla Excellence Awards, reinforcing its position as a country increasingly chosen not only for travel but for long-term living.
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said the recognition reflects a growing global view of the Philippines as a place where people can settle and build a life after work.
“This award affirms what the global community increasingly sees—the Philippines is not only a beautiful place to visit, but a place to call home,” Frasco said.
She said retirees are drawn not just by scenery, but by the country’s culture of care, hospitality, and compassion. Frasco added that the government continues to strengthen programs and services designed to support retirees who choose the Philippines as their long-term base.
“Beyond its globally renowned natural beauty, the Philippines continues to distinguish itself through its welcoming communities, English-speaking population, favorable climate, and internationally recognized healthcare facilities,” she said.
Earlier this year, the Department of Tourism and the Philippine Retirement Authority held meetings to further enhance the Special Resident Retiree’s Visa program, a key incentive aimed at encouraging foreign nationals and returning overseas Filipinos to retire in the country.
Philippine Retirement Authority General Manager Roberto Zozobrado said the agency has rolled out its WE CARE campaign, short for We Create an Amazing Retirement Experience, to strengthen the country’s position in the global retirement market.
“The Philippines offers something truly rare—retirement that feels like coming home,” Zozobrado said.
According to the Department of Tourism, the Philippines currently hosts more than 83,000 Special Resident Retiree’s Visa holders, a figure that reflects the country’s growing appeal as a retirement base for foreigners and overseas Filipinos.
The recognition places the Philippines among Asia’s leading retirement choices, supported by policy initiatives, accessible healthcare, and communities that continue to draw retirees seeking stability, affordability, and quality of life.
