The Philippine National Police (PNP) is going all-in against Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos) and Internet Gaming Licensees (IGLs) following the recent release of Executive Order No. 74.
This hard-hitting order, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on November 5, slams the door on new licenses and sets up guidelines to phase out Pogos in the Philippines.
Mission: Dismantle Pogo Operations
Leading the charge is PNP’s Task Force Skimmer, a unit laser-focused on wiping out Pogo operations and cracking down on the industry’s shady side.
“We’re taking this seriously,” the PNP announced, urging citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious gaming activity.
Government’s Final Push for a Pogo-Free Philippines
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. laid down the law in his State of the Nation Address last July, making it clear that Pogos have overstayed their welcome.
With PAGCOR tasked to pull the plug by year’s end, the Philippines is in the final stretch to becoming Pogo-free.
With the PNP, Task Force Skimmer, and PAGCOR all aligned, the days of Pogos are truly numbered, marking the end of an era for the Philippines’ controversial gaming industry.
