With WrestleMania 41 on the horizon, Roman Reigns is drawing attention outside the ring—this time, for his political stance.
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, the WWE champion openly expressed his support for former U.S. President Donald Trump, making the rare crossover from sports entertainment to political headlines just weeks before the biggest wrestling event of the year.
Reigns, whose real name is Joe Anoa’i, described Trump as a leader with a “vast history” and explained that his support stems from a desire for “positive and competent leadership.”
While acknowledging that he doesn’t align with everything Trump does, Reigns said the former president’s track record in business, entertainment, and politics makes him a compelling choice for the upcoming 2024 U.S. elections.
“I support our president,” Reigns told Vanity Fair.
“Trump is one of those guys where he’s got a vast history and a huge background. He’s been in entertainment. He’s been in big business, politics. At this point, I’m supporting a bright future for our country.”
Reigns also pointed out a key dynamic in Trump’s political persona: his combative energy toward opposition. While Reigns finds this tendency “unnecessary,” he believes it’s part of what motivates Trump to perform and lead.
This isn’t the first time Trump’s name has been associated with the WWE. He’s appeared at multiple WWE events in the past, including a highly publicized “Battle of the Billionaires” match at WrestleMania 23 and was even inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
