Vice President Sara Duterte has issued an appeal to the public to reconsider organizing motorcades and vehicle caravans due to the negative impacts they cause, including higher fuel costs, increased air pollution, and worsened traffic congestion.
In her statement, Duterte addressed the rise in fuel prices and concerns about air and noise pollution, urging the public to consider alternative ways of expressing support or protest. “These events not only lead to higher fuel costs but also worsen air pollution and increase traffic congestion, causing significant inconvenience to everyone,” she said.
Duterte acknowledged the desire to gather and show support for former President Rody Duterte but emphasized the importance of being mindful of the broader impact these activities have on others and the environment. She called for less disruptive and more sustainable alternatives to show support for political causes.
The Vice President also highlighted ongoing national issues, including the loss of jobs for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returning to the country and the rising cost of food and other essential commodities.
Duterte called on all Local Government Units (LGUs) to permanently ban motorcades and vehicle caravans, whether for celebrations, festivals, or political purposes. She concluded by urging Filipinos to work together to ensure safer, cleaner, and more efficient roads for all.
