A new Tangere presidential preference survey shows that Senator Bong Go and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo are statistically tied if Vice President Sara Duterte is removed from the race due to impeachment.
The survey, conducted from March 16 to 18, 2026 among 1,500 respondents, carried a margin of error of ±2.77 percent at a 95 percent confidence level. Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Jonvic Remulla recorded 2 percent in a three-way race, but if removed from the equation, Bong Go and Leni Robredo remain statistically tied. Twenty-seven percent of respondents remain undecided. Tangere also reports that 43 percent support impeachment, a bloc largely aligned with Robredo and Bam Aquino voters.
Historical election results highlight the strength of Duterte-aligned voter mobilization. While Rody Duterte was in The Hague during the 2025 senatorial elections, his trusted ally Bong Go secured the highest vote of all time with 27,119,670 votes, surpassing Robin Padilla, the 2022 record holder. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa placed third with 20,772,644 votes, and Rodante Marcoleta (who was outside the top 12 in the majority of pre-election surveys) finished sixth with 15,157,060 votes, showing how coordinated Duterte-aligned voters can elevate candidates previously overlooked.
Tangere clarifies that no data yet exists for Sebastian Duterte if he were to run in place of his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte.
The survey underscores a narrow margin at the top and a substantial undecided bloc. Combined with historical patterns, it suggests that if former president Rodrigo Duterte remains in The Hague and Sara Duterte is removed through impeachment, enraged Duterte-aligned voters could once again play a decisive role in shaping the 2028 presidential race.
