Former executive secretary and lawyer Vic Rodriguez has urged Filipinos to join an anti-corruption rally at the Edsa Shrine on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Rodriguez said the movement “Hakbang ng Maisug” is calling on the public to unite regardless of political affiliation, belief, or orientation to oppose what it described as “massive corruption and looting of public funds” under the Marcos administration.
“Hakbang ng Maisug is calling all patriotic Filipinos to come together… and support all action to put an end to the massive corruption and looting of public funds we are all gravely suffering from the hands of the Marcos administration,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said Hakbang ng Maisug has been advocating for transparency, accountability, peace, and security since March 2024, when it partnered with former president Rodrigo Duterte. He said the road to a graft-free Philippines is far from reality but emphasized that more Filipinos are coming together for a common cause.
“It is time to let our collective voices be heard. We therefore support the call for a peaceful rally on Saturday, 13 September 2025 at the Edsa Shrine and encourage the Filipino people to go out and be counted,” he said.
The former Palace official added that efforts will continue until those responsible for corruption and abuse are held accountable.
“We will not stop until the dark forces that lord over and oppress our people will be held accountable for the sufferings they have inflicted on our people,” he added.
Hakbang ng Maisug said the upcoming rally aims to gather public support for reforms in governance and stronger demands for accountability in the use of public funds.
