Ice Cube’s War of the Worlds Gets 0%—Critics Say It’s an Amazon Ad, Not a Film

Ice Cube fights aliens with an Amazon drone. No, that’s not a meme—it’s the actual climax of Amazon’s latest disaster flick.

War of the Worlds quietly dumped on Prime Video, is being dragged online for its corporate cringe, chaotic writing, and painfully forced themes. Viewers are calling it “woke garbage” and the worst movie of the year.

And somehow, the aliens weren’t the most unrealistic part.

A Drone, a USB, and a Gift Card

In one of the most absurd moments, Ice Cube’s character needs a USB stick to upload alien-killing code. Of course, no one has one.

So his daughter sends it via Prime Air—yes, an Amazon drone—flown by her Amazon delivery boyfriend. It crashes near a homeless man who refuses to help until they offer a $1,000 Amazon gift card. Critics compared the scene to a low-budget Super Bowl ad. Variety flat-out said it felt like a 90-minute commercial.

Diversity Without Depth

The film stars Ice Cube and Eva Longoria, but neither can escape the lifeless script.

Instead of character development, the movie offers checklists and clichés. While representation matters, viewers aren’t buying surface-level inclusion with no story to back it up. Social media called it “diversity without purpose,” and others joked the movie felt like “Zoom theater with Martians.” Even fans of the original book were left wondering how it went this wrong.

This Is Not Cinema

Rotten Tomatoes gave it a flat 0%. Audience scores hit rock bottom at 14%. Even Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., jumped in to explain the film was shot during lockdown—but that didn’t excuse what viewers called lazy, soulless filmmaking. There’s no tension, no scale, and no real payoff. Instead, we get screen recordings, drone shots, and generic tech talk wrapped in Amazon branding.

So yes—War of the Worlds is being called “woke garbage” and the worst movie ever made. It earned that title, one USB at a time.
