BBM and Sara: The Empty Promises and Silent Leadership Holding Us Back

“Unity.” That was the word that got BBM and Sara Duterte into office.

A campaign promise so simple yet powerful that it gave Filipinos hope for change. But what does that unity look like now?

According to Jourdan Sebastian, it looks like silence, inaction, and unfulfilled promises wrapped in a shiny PR package.

BBM’s leadership is quieter than a state of the nation address—and that’s saying something.

While inflation rises and reforms are nowhere to be found, the President seems more interested in staying silent than taking action. This isn’t leadership—it’s avoidance.

And then there’s Sara. While she rides on the legacy of her father’s name, what has she actually done to build her own?

As Jourdan boldly points out, there’s a big difference between Duterte’s polarizing but undeniably impactful governance and Sara’s underwhelming performance. What’s worse? She carries the rhetoric but none of the results.

But the real tragedy isn’t just their failure to deliver on promises—it’s the cost Filipinos are paying every day.

Rising costs, stalled reforms, and a government more focused on optics than outcomes. We’re left holding the bag, wondering when—or if—our leaders will ever step up.

Jourdan Sebastian doesn’t mince words when he calls out the BBM-Sara administration.

Leadership is about action, not slogans. It’s about accountability, not excuses.

And it’s about serving the people—not performing for them. If this is what “unity” looks like, it’s time to rethink what we expect from our leaders.

Filipinos deserve more than empty promises and silence. When will we stop settling?
