This AI turns prompts into full scenes—is this the future of movies?

Imagine typing out a scene—“a man runs through a burning city while it rains”—and seconds later, watching it unfold on screen, complete with smoke, rain, and even the sound of sirens in the distance.

That’s exactly what Google’s latest AI, Veo 3, is promising. And it’s no longer just for developers or researchers—Google is opening access to 71 new countries through its Gemini app.

Veo 3 is the company’s most advanced video generation model yet, developed by Google DeepMind. Unlike earlier versions, this one doesn’t just generate video visuals—it adds synchronized audio, from dialogue to ambient noise. The result? A near-instant cinematic experience from a few lines of text.

Filmmaking on fast forward

Through the Gemini web app, Veo 3 allows users to create short video clips using simple prompts. Gemini Pro subscribers get a one-time trial of ten videos, while Gemini Advanced users (at $250/month) unlock “Flow mode”—a premium feature that lets them generate up to 125 videos per month with enhanced storytelling tools.

The platform isn’t without limits. For now, Veo 3 is only accessible via desktop and generates audio primarily in English. Uploading custom images disables voice output, and metadata is automatically embedded to flag the content as AI-generated—part of Google’s effort to maintain transparency as AI content spreads.

But even with these boundaries, the speed and quality of Veo 3’s output has caught attention across the industry. In just a few clicks, anyone can create footage that would have taken hours (or entire teams) to produce.

Why the EU didn’t make the cut

One major region not getting access yet? The European Union. Google hasn’t publicly explained the exclusion, but experts point to the EU’s recent AI Act—legislation that puts tight controls on high-risk AI systems. Compliance hurdles could be behind the delay, especially for models capable of generating lifelike media.

In the meantime, creators in other parts of the world are already exploring Veo’s potential. From indie filmmakers to content creators, the ability to create fully formed scenes from text is opening new doors—especially for those without big budgets or production crews.

What this means for creatives

Whether this is the future of movies is still an open question—but Veo 3 makes it clear that the barrier between imagination and execution is shrinking fast.

It doesn’t replace Hollywood (yet), but it does offer a glimpse at how storytelling could evolve. Directors, animators, and even marketers now have a powerful new tool that could change how visuals are made—from short-form social content to full-length features.

AI won’t kill the film industry—but it might just reshape it.

Wow. Google's Gemeni Veo is pretty insane! I just created this video in a couple of minutes. This is far superior to Open AI's Sora. Bullish $GOOGL pic.twitter.com/tYhbBcrrL7
