Akbayan led several Philippine leftist and progressive groups in condemning the reported United States and Israel attacks on Iran, calling the strikes a violation of international law and warning of regional escalation.
“This assault is nothing short of a state-sponsored terror attack that poses a grave risk of escalating into a full-scale regional conflict and triggering a global humanitarian catastrophe,” Akbayan said. The group urged the Department of Foreign Affairs to prepare repatriation plans for Filipinos in high-risk areas and stressed that “The Philippines must not remain a passive observer to this unfolding chaos.”
Partido Manggagawa called on the government to “declare a categorical position against the joint US-Israel war of aggression against Iran” and rejected claims the attacks were “preemptive,” saying Filipino workers would gain nothing “other than uncertainty, violence and lost jobs.”
Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino warned that “the nameless ordinary civilians and workers caught in the crossfire” would shoulder the cost of a wider conflict, adding that war spending diverts funds from public services. Bagong Alyansang Makabayan described the strikes as “a flagrant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the sovereign right of the Iranian people to self-determination.”
The Liberal Party called for “immediate de-escalation, full transparency, and independent investigation into civilian casualties,” stressing that “even the worst record of repression cannot serve as a blank check for the deaths of children.”
President Bongbong Marcos said there were no reports of Filipino casualties and that the government continues to monitor the situation. The Department of National Defense said it is ready to assist in repatriation if needed. US President Donald J. Trump said the attacks were meant to take out Iran’s military and government, telling the Iranian people, “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take.”
