In her latest reaction video, Dr. KC Halili tackled the growing issue of “nepo babies” in the Philippines, focusing on viral content featuring the children of politicians and contractors flaunting wealth online.
Circulating clips on social media show political families’ children thanking their fathers for being “never-ending ATM machines,” showing off luxury bags, and posting about expensive vehicles such as G-Wagons. The posts have fueled widespread criticism online, with many questioning the sources of the wealth displayed.
The controversy has also been tied to flood-control and infrastructure projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), with some of those flaunting wealth identified as children of contractors linked to these projects.

Halili cited Republic Act 6713, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, which requires government officials and their families to lead modest lives and avoid “extravagant and ostentatious display of wealth.” Critics argue that online content showing lavish spending could run counter to this law, especially in families with political ties.
In her video, Halili contrasted these displays of privilege with the everyday struggles of Filipinos contending with floods, commuting in jeepneys, and working long hours to make ends meet. She called on viewers to remain vigilant and continue holding both public officials and their families accountable.
The nepo baby discourse continues to gain traction across social media platforms, highlighting ongoing debates over privilege, corruption, and political dynasties in the Philippines.
