A 32-year-old former Miss Philippines Earth 2013 runner-up was killed in a brutal shooting Friday evening in San Manuel, Isabela.
Teacher and Beauty Queen Lullete Jane Ramilo-De Guzman was inside her SUV in front of her home in Barangay Cabaritan at about 6:45 p.m. when a gunman on a motorcycle approached and opened fire. She was struck in the face and side and died at the scene.
Ramilo-De Guzman was pronounced dead later at Manuel Roxas District Hospital in Roxas town.
Police reported that Ramilo-De Guzman was with her children in the Toyota Fortuner when her father stepped out to open the gate. A motorcycle rider with no visible plate number entered the compound and repeatedly fired at her.
The attack unfolded as bystanders watched. The children were inside the vehicle during the shooting.
Officers at the scene recovered shell casings. Investigators are reviewing security camera footage from nearby homes and looking for leads on the motorcycle used in the attack.
Police have not released a suspect description or motive but said they are pursuing all angles, including personal and professional links to the victim.
Ramilo-De Guzman gained national attention in 2013 as a pageant finalist and later built her life as an educator. The violence in a residential area has drawn concern from neighbors and officials alike.
Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to local police to aid the ongoing investigation.
