Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has authorized the release of more than ₱317 million in year-end bonuses and cash gifts for regular employees of the city government, ensuring that the benefits will reach workers ahead of the holiday season. The move covers personnel assigned to both the Manila City Hall and the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
City Hall officials confirmed that the total allocation — ₱317,014,291.84 — includes the standard year-end bonus equivalent to one month’s basic salary, along with a ₱5,000 cash gift for every qualified employee, following national guidelines. The distribution is expected to provide financial relief and boost morale as government workers prepare for year-end expenses.
Mayor Moreno noted that assembling the required budget was not without difficulty. He admitted that the city’s finances had previously been in a “hand-to-mouth” state, making the release of such a substantial amount a significant fiscal undertaking. Despite this, the mayor instructed the City Treasurer’s Office to expedite the disbursement to ensure employees receive their benefits as early as possible.
The local government’s announcement aligns with national directives, as the Department of Budget and Management earlier confirmed the release of billions in bonuses for government workers nationwide. Manila’s move reinforces its commitment to supporting its workforce, recognizing their contributions to city services throughout the year.
With the release now underway, thousands of Manila’s government employees are expected to receive their bonuses within the scheduled period, bringing timely support and a welcomed sense of stability before the year draws to a close.
