With the holiday season approaching, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has instructed the Manila Police District (MPD) to increase police visibility across the city’s busiest areas to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order.
Domagoso made the directive during the fourth-quarter meeting of the Manila Peace and Order Council on Thursday, Oct. 23. The meeting was attended by officials from the MPD, barangays, and other law enforcement agencies involved in the city’s security operations.
He added that the local government is committed to keeping Manila safe and orderly for both residents and visitors.
Domagoso also reminded city officials to coordinate closely with barangay leaders to ensure consistent law enforcement and faster response to incidents. The MPD is expected to sustain these visibility operations through the entire holiday period.
Earlier this month, during his First 100 Days Report, Domagoso commended the MPD for achieving a 9.2 percent increase in its crime solution efficiency rate, which he credited to the administration’s ongoing campaign for stricter policing and improved coordination among law enforcement bodies.
The mayor directed the MPD to deploy more personnel and conduct 24-hour patrols in high-traffic areas such as Binondo, Recto, Quiapo, Ermita, Malate, and the University Belt.
