A member of Isko Moreno‘s security team was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Tondo, Manila shortly after midnight on Sunday, according to the Manila Police District.
The victim was identified as George Capistrano, 56, a retired police officer and resident of Barangay 134 in Balut. Authorities said Capistrano was serving as part of the mayor’s security team.
Investigators reported that the attack occurred in front of the victim’s home at the corner of Salonga and Buendia streets. Two suspects riding a motorcycle carried out the shooting, a method commonly associated with riding-in-tandem attacks.
Capistrano was immediately rushed to the Tondo Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. His wife, Andrea Capistrano, told authorities she was inside their home when she suddenly heard gunshots. When she ran outside, she found her husband lying motionless on the street.
Police said the suspects fled the scene and remain at large. The Manila Police District has launched a follow-up investigation and manhunt to identify the gunmen and determine the motive behind the killing.
