Jake Paul beats Chavez Jr. — now he wants Joshua, Tyson, and Wilder

Jake Paul, the former YouTube personality turned professional boxer, has solidified his presence in the ring with a recent unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., improving his record to 12-1 with 7 knockouts.

This win, achieved against a seasoned opponent in a pro-Chavez crowd in Southern California, underscores Paul’s growing credibility in the sport, transitioning from a novelty act to a serious contender.

The 28-year-old fighter’s performance highlighted his technical improvement and strategic approach, marking a pivotal moment in his career trajectory.

Beyond the ring, Paul has recently drawn attention for his compassionate response to the health struggles of his former opponent, Ben Askren.

Askren, a retired MMA fighter whom Paul defeated in 2021, is in urgent need of a double lung transplant due to a severe medical condition, with his insurance denying coverage due to the procedure’s high cost—estimated at over $1 million.

Paul publicly criticized the lack of support from UFC president Dana White and others in the combat sports community, announcing plans with his brother Logan to organize substantial donations to fund Askren’s surgery.

This gesture reflects a shift in Paul’s public image, blending his competitive persona with a humanitarian effort, and has sparked discussions about the responsibilities of prominent figures in supporting peers facing personal crises.

Looking forward, Paul’s next steps in the boxing world are generating significant interest. His post-fight comments indicate a potential matchup with Anthony Joshua, a two-time former heavyweight champion, as a likely challenge for 2026.

Joshua, with a record of 28-3 and known for his powerful striking, represents a step up in class, testing Paul’s skills against a globally recognized elite fighter. Another possibility is a rematch with Mike Tyson, whom Paul defeated in a controversial exhibition in 2024, though Tyson’s age and health may complicate negotiations.

Additionally, Deontay Wilder, the former WBC heavyweight champion with a record of 43-4-1, has been floated as a potential opponent, offering a high-stakes clash given Wilder’s knockout prowess.

Each matchup carries unique risks and rewards, with Joshua offering prestige, Tyson a narrative revisit, and Wilder a test of durability.

Paul’s career path suggests a deliberate strategy to face increasingly formidable opponents, balancing entertainment value with athletic growth. His recent win and advocacy for Askren enhance his profile, potentially influencing his negotiating power for these bouts.

However, the feasibility of these fights depends on factors such as opponent availability, weight class adjustments—Paul fights as a cruiserweight while Joshua and Wilder are heavyweights—and the evolving dynamics of his public persona.

Jake Paul’s recent victory over Chavez Jr. cements his boxing credentials, while his support for Ben Askren highlights a compassionate side that could reshape his legacy.

As he eyes potential bouts with Joshua, Tyson, or Wilder, the boxing world watches to see whether he can sustain his momentum and transition into a top-tier contender.
