Vice President JD Vance is set to release a new memoir that centers on faith, identity, and personal transformation. His upcoming book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith”, scheduled for June 16, 2026, presents a detailed account of his return to Christianity after a period of disbelief, offering a closer look at the convictions shaping his private life and public role.
“I’ve been writing this book for a long time, and I’m honored to finally be able to share the full story with you all,” Vance said.
“Communion is about my personal journey and how I found my way back to faith.”
The book traces Vance’s path from a difficult upbringing to national prominence, focusing on the internal questions that led him away from religion and the experiences that brought him back. It documents his intellectual and spiritual struggle, including his exploration of philosophy, morality, and purpose, before ultimately embracing Catholicism. The narrative places strong emphasis on how faith became a grounding force, shaping his views on family, responsibility, and leadership.
Vance also reflects on the role of belief in decision-making, describing how spiritual discipline and renewed conviction influence how he approaches public service. The memoir builds on themes familiar to readers of his earlier work while shifting deeper into personal introspection, offering a more reflective and values-driven perspective.
“The story of how I regained my faith, of course, only happened because I had lost it to begin with,” Vance writes, pointing to a period where belief did not take hold before later becoming central to his life.
The release builds on the impact of his first book, Hillbilly Elegy, which drew sustained attention across political lines and remained widely discussed years after publication. The book was read, debated, and scrutinized by supporters and critics alike, placing Vance at the center of national conversation. That reception established his voice beyond politics and set a high bar for his next work.
“Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith” extends that trajectory, shifting the focus from his external journey to his internal one, from upbringing and circumstance to belief and conviction. It presents a continuation of his story, following the same path from hardship to clarity, now anchored in faith as a defining force in his life and leadership.
