Malacañang responded to remarks made by Senator Imee R. Marcos after she publicly questioned who was taking care of President Bongbong Marcos following his recent hospital visit.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the Palace was reacting to a video message posted by the senator, where she suggested the President fell ill because no one in Malacañang was looking after him.
The President was brought to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday night after experiencing discomfort caused by diverticulitis.
Marcos earlier said the condition was common among people who are heavily stressed and growing older. He said it was not life threatening.
“Let’s not make a joke of the President’s health. Don’t be a comedian or a clown in giving advice,” Castro said in a Viber message to reporters.
“A person who has been through an illness needs a true heart and care. Don’t pretend to be one in the eyes of many,” she added.
In her video message posted on Facebook, Senator Marcos said, “No one is taking care of him. Of all of you there surrounding him, who really cares about my brother?”
“You all have your own agendas, no one takes care of him,” she added.
Malacañang did not announce any changes to the President’s schedule following the hospital visit.
