President Bongbong Marcos said outdated government procedures continue to burden Filipinos, citing red tape and inefficient requirements as persistent problems that must be addressed through policy reform and digitalization.
In his BBM vlogs, Marcos pointed to long queues, excessive paperwork, and the repeated submission of the same information as signs of a government system that has failed to keep pace with modern needs. He criticized policies that require physical appearance for transactions that can already be handled digitally.
“Hindi tayo dapat pumipila ng madaling-araw sa opisina ng gobyerno para lang kumuha ng isang dokumento,” Marcos said.
Marcos emphasized that simplifying government transactions is central to improving the ease of doing business and reducing daily inconvenience. He identified digitalization as a key solution, citing the expansion of e-government platforms and the recognition of digital driver’s licenses.
He also highlighted transport-related measures aimed at easing daily burdens, including fare discounts for students and persons with disabilities, free public transport for families on Sundays, and improved internet access in public transport areas.
Marcos said many existing policies must be reviewed or rewritten to ensure government systems deliver convenience rather than added burden, adding that meaningful reform depends on proper implementation and public cooperation.
