President Bongbong Marcos spoke before international business leaders during the APEC CEO Summit held in Gyeongju, South Korea, on October 31, 2025. The President stated that the Philippines is open to investment and focused on expanding its participation in the digital economy within the Asia-Pacific region.
Marcos mentioned that the government is implementing programs to develop digital infrastructure, improve trade systems, and support innovation across key industries. He said these measures are part of ongoing efforts to enhance competitiveness and attract investment in technology-driven sectors.
According to the President, current initiatives include the expansion of broadband connectivity, modernization of logistics networks, and the strengthening of support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). These efforts are intended to improve access to digital platforms and increase productivity among local businesses.
The APEC CEO Summit brings together leaders and business executives from 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. The forum focuses on regional trade, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
Malacañang confirmed that Marcos will attend several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit to discuss possible cooperation in trade, digital development, and energy partnerships. The Palace stated that the trip aims to reinforce the Philippines’ position as a dependable economic partner in the region and to advance collaborations aligned with digital transformation and modernization.
