President Bongbong Marcos announced on that motorists will be allowed to use the newly opened CAVITEX-C5 Expressway Segment 3B free of charge for the entire month of April, as part of efforts to ease the burden on commuters and support economic activity.
Speaking during the inauguration of the new segment, Marcos said the toll holiday would run from its opening until the end of April to give relief to motorists passing through the route. He added that the move comes at a time when rising global oil prices, driven by ongoing tensions in the Middle East, continue to affect transportation costs.
The president said the project also aligns with the government’s broader economic response under Executive Order No. 110, or the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT), which aims to cushion the impact of external economic pressures on Filipinos.
The CAVITEX-C5 Segment 3B is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Taguig City and Parañaque City, cutting the usual one-and-a-half-hour trip down to approximately 15 minutes. It is also seen to improve connectivity for motorists coming from southern areas, including Cavite, providing more direct access to key parts of Metro Manila.
Officials said the new segment is expected to enhance mobility, ease congestion on existing routes, and support economic activity in Southern Metro Manila and Cavite by improving the flow of goods and people.
