Actress Nadine Lustre joined Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila de Lima as a set of legislative measures on animal welfare and environmental policy were advanced in the House of Representatives.
De Lima and Lustre appeared alongside environmental advocate Christophe Bariou and representatives of animal welfare groups, including PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Animal Kingdom Foundation, CARA Welfare Philippines, and Biyaya Animal Care.
The measures include House Bill No. 7696, known as the Animal Welfare Enforcement Act, and House Bill No. 7697, or the Ulay para sa Kalusugan at Kalikasan Act. Also included is House Resolution No. 748, which calls for a congressional inquiry into environmental concerns and related policy issues.
