The Roc Nation CEO, who once served time for drug-related charges, received clemency near the end of Trump’s term — something Nicki says was brushed off by the same media and political circles that had previously vilified her for vaccine hesitancy.
She pointed out what she sees as hypocrisy: if she, a Black woman, had been the one pardoned by Trump, there would’ve been media outrage. Yet Desiree — a Latina executive linked to Jay-Z — received barely any criticism.
In another tweet, Nicki alleged that Jay-Z remained conveniently quiet about Desiree’s pardon, despite his well-documented alignment with the Democratic Party and its causes.
Where was Jay-Z when it counted?
According to Nicki, Jay-Z’s silence wasn’t just about Trump or Desiree — it extended to the entire Democratic machine. She emphasized how the rapper failed to step up during pivotal political moments, especially when Black voters were being actively courted.
She questioned whether Jay-Z’s ties to the Democrats were ever genuine, or just a matter of personal gain. “When y’all needed him the most,” she wrote, “he was silent.”
Even as President Obama made an impassioned plea for Black men to support Kamala Harris, Nicki says “the richest and most influential Black rapper” said nothing.
