President Bongbong Marcos has ordered key government agencies to move swiftly to protect Filipinos in Iran following reports of airstrikes and escalating tensions in the region.
Malacañang said the President instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines and the Department of Migrant Workers to account for Filipino nationals and extend assistance where necessary. The directive centers on ensuring that overseas Filipinos have access to support and updated guidance as the security situation develops.
Philippine diplomatic posts, including the embassy in Tehran and the embassy in Tel Aviv, have been placed on heightened alert. Officials said missions in the region are monitoring conditions on the ground and coordinating with local authorities to assess potential risks to Filipino communities.
As of the latest update, authorities have not reported confirmed Filipino casualties. Government agencies continue to gather information while urging nationals in affected areas to maintain contact with Philippine embassies and follow official advisories.
The administration said safeguarding overseas Filipinos remains a priority as it tracks developments in the Middle East.
