President Bongbong Marcos led the reopening of the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City on November 19, 2025. During the tour of the newly upgraded facility, he tried lifting a barbell inside the gym, a moment captured by the media covering the event.
The visit marked the launch of the latest round of improvements completed by the Philippine Sports Commission.
The complex now features reconstructed and newly refurbished facilities, including athlete dormitories, a sports museum, an athlete dining hall, and sports offices.
These upgrades followed a renovation cycle that began in 2019 and were unveiled ahead of the country’s upcoming international sports commitments. PSC officials guided the President through the enhanced amenities built to support national athletes.
Marcos Jr. underscored the value of sports in building character and strengthening discipline, stressing that improved facilities help shape athletes competing at both local and international levels.
The PSC emphasized that the project represents a long-term push to modernize athlete training environments and provide more stable support systems.
With updated accommodations, expanded training spaces, and improved administrative areas, the complex reopens as a central hub for preparing Filipino athletes for future competitions.
