Grapple Island 2025, the first destination-based Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ) camp in the Philippines, is set to take place from June 7 to 8, 2025, at LasCalas Resort & Luxury Estate in Dasol, Pangasinan.

The event is organized by PGMN anchor and former MMA champion Louie Sangalang, in partnership with Jason Salao and Joe Bailey Guerrero.

The two-day camp will feature a seminar conducted by IBJJF World Champion Isaac Doederlein, a black belt under Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles and medalist at the Brazilian Nationals and IBJJF World Championship.

Doederlein is known for his technical guard work, passing systems, and competition-proven strategies. His sessions will focus on instruction applicable to all skill levels, with an emphasis on precision and practical application.

Participants will also take part in open mat sessions, community activities, and acoustic night programming.

The Grapple Island invitational superfights and tournament are scheduled to follow the camp, with matches to be professionally staged and livestreamed from the venue’s main event pavilion.

Scheduled competitors for the upcoming tournament include Rocco Nacino, Troy Legaspi, Geeno, Ken, Ivan, Gio, David, Philip, and Bren.

These athletes represent a variety of ranks and weight classes and have previously medaled in competitions such as the IBJJF Pan Championship, UAAP Judo, JJIF World Cup, and ADCC Philippine Open.

The venue, LasCalas Resort, is a private beachfront estate offering training areas, accommodations, and common spaces for participants.

Attendees are expected to arrive on June 7 for registration and orientation before the start of official activities.
