The Philippine National Police has ordered an intensified crackdown against AI-enabled online child harassment and exploitation, warning that artificial intelligence is being used to target minors in new and disturbing ways. In a directive reported on Feb. 18, 2026, the PNP moved to strengthen monitoring and enforcement efforts against digital platforms and networks involved in manipulating images, generating explicit content, and harassing children online.
Police officials said AI tools are now being exploited to create altered photos, deepfake materials, and other abusive content involving minors. The order calls for tighter coordination between cybercrime units and regional police offices to track suspects and shut down online operations. The PNP emphasized that technology is advancing quickly and law enforcement must respond with the same urgency. “PNP personnel would coordinate with other government agencies to prevent children from being harmed online due to exposure to modern technologies,” police leadership said.
The directive places the spotlight on the Anti-Cybercrime Group and other specialized units tasked with investigating online sexual exploitation of children. Officers were instructed to intensify intelligence gathering and pursue individuals who use AI platforms to exploit minors. Authorities stressed that those found responsible will face charges under existing cybercrime and child protection laws.
Police officials acknowledged the growing threat posed by AI-assisted abuse and warned that online harassment involving children is becoming more sophisticated. The leadership said protecting minors remains a priority as the PNP confronts a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
