Former senator Bong Revilla, appeared at the Department of Justice (DOJ) to file his counter-affidavit in connection with a graft complaint involving alleged irregularities in flood-control projects in Bulacan. Revilla arrived at the DOJ but did not grant interviews to the media.
His lawyer, Francesca Señga, said Revilla submitted documents intended to address and dispute the claims raised in the complaint.
“Maliban sa counter affidavit ay nagsumite si Mr. Revilla ng mga ebidensya na magpapatunay na lahat ng nilalaman ng alegasyon, akusasyon at reklamo laban sa kanya ay pawang kasinungalingan at kasinungalingan lamang,” Señga said.
Revilla is one of the respondents in one of five flood-control cases currently under review by the DOJ. The complaint includes statements from former DPWH Bulacan engineer Henry Alcantara, who said in September that P300 million worth of projects were inserted into the 2024 national budget for Revilla.
According to Señga, Revilla is asking the DOJ to examine the evidence submitted and resolve the case at the preliminary investigation level. “Umaasa si Mr. Revilla na magiging patas ang Department of Justice at titingnan niya ang ebidensya at hindi na paaabutin ang reklamong ito sa korte,” she said.
The Office of the Ombudsman is separately studying potential charges, including malversation and possible plunder, depending on the outcome of the broader flood-control investigation. The DOJ has not yet released a timeline for issuing its resolution.
