Roslyn Pineda has been appointed president of Sony Music Publishing Asia, marking a major leadership shift in the company’s regional operations and placing a Filipina at the helm of one of the world’s largest music publishing markets.
Sony Music Publishing announced the appointment this week as part of a leadership transition in Asia. Pineda takes over the role following the planned retirement of the previous regional head, with the company citing continuity and internal leadership development in the decision.
Pineda was selected for the position after more than two decades of experience within Sony’s music business and years of managing key markets in the region. Prior to her promotion, she served as general manager of Sony Music Publishing Philippines, where she played a central role in rebuilding the company’s local presence. Fondly known as “Mama Sony” among Filipino fans, Pineda oversaw the reopening of the music label’s Philippine brand and led the signing of major local acts, including SB19, Ben&Ben, and IV OF SPADES.
She also previously held regional roles involving artist relations and business development across Asia, giving her direct oversight of multiple territories under Sony’s publishing network. Sony Music Publishing said Pineda’s long tenure, regional familiarity, and track record in developing songwriters and strengthening publishing operations made her a natural choice to lead the Asia division.
“I am thrilled to take on this leadership role at Sony Music Publishing Asia during such an exciting time for our industry and our region,” Pineda said in a statement. She added that she looks forward to working closely with songwriters, partners, and Sony’s global leadership to support creators across Asia.
In her new role, Pineda will oversee the company’s creative and business operations across Asian territories, with a focus on songwriter development, catalog growth, and cross-border collaboration. Sony Music Publishing said her appointment reflects confidence in leaders who have grown within the organization and demonstrated the ability to guide artists and creators in fast-evolving markets.
Pineda’s promotion highlights the increasing role of Asian executives in shaping global music publishing strategies as the region continues to emerge as a major driver of new talent and international hits.
