Majority Leader Sandro Marcos coordinated a new round of support for Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, gathering around 180 lawmakers from several regional and sectoral blocs as the House continues to address questions tied to the flood control corruption controversy.
Marcos, representing Ilocos Norte’s first district, organized members of the Northern Luzon Alliance, most Metro Manila district representatives, the Mindanao bloc, and party-list lawmakers to sign on to separate declarations affirming confidence in Dy’s leadership.
Dy assumed the speakership after Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez stepped down amid pressure from multiple groups over allegations of irregular budget insertions and the role of certain lawmakers in flood control spending.
Northern Luzon legislators, including Deputy Speakers Kristine Singson-Meehan and Francisco Paolo Ortega, released a manifesto identifying Dy as their preferred leader moving forward. The group said it is aligned behind the Speaker as the chamber recalibrates under heightened public scrutiny.
Mindanao representatives issued their own statement through Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez. The bloc said it sees Dy as a stable point of leadership and described his decision-making as consistent with institutional priorities. Members said the group would remain united behind him.
Metro Manila lawmakers had earlier submitted a letter expressing the same position. Their statement pointed to Dy’s ability to keep the House functioning while the chamber dealt with negative public reaction stemming from the corruption issue.
The formal announcements mark another step in the consolidation of support around Dy as the House attempts to restore order while flood control investigations continue.
