House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos has denied allegations made by his aunt, Senator Imee R. Marcos, claiming he and other members of the First Family are involved in illegal drug use. The senator raised the accusation during a public event, describing the matter as serious and suggesting it had long been known within the family.
In her remarks, Senator Marcos alleged that Sandro had used illegal drugs and referenced supposed concerns dating back years. She also repeated allegations implicating President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos. The senator did not present evidence to substantiate the claims.
In a written statement, Sandro Marcos rejected the accusations in full, calling the claims unfounded and harmful. “Sa lahat po ng binanggit ni senadora, walang basehan, walang katotohanan, at walang magandang idudulot sa bayan,” he said.
He added that he had always acknowledged the senator’s role in the early part of his public life but felt compelled to respond due to the gravity of the allegations.
Marcos also said the accusations directed at him, the President, and the First Lady were “not only false, but dangerously irresponsible,” stressing that this was the first time he had been personally included in such claims. He noted that his cousins — Borgy Marcos, Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, and Atty. Michael Marcos Keon — could confirm that the insinuations made about him were untrue.
The House leader further stated that members of the Marcos family had previously agreed not to involve themselves in disputes stemming from issues between their parents. “That is why nakakalungkot makita na ginagawa niya ito,” he wrote, adding that the situation has caused him personal distress given the senator’s role in his early political career.
Sandro Marcos concluded his statement by urging the public to avoid narratives that could contribute to political instability.
“Now is the time to unite behind truth, not to amplify narratives meant to topple the government,” he said.
“Panahon ngayon para magtulungan, hindi para magpalaganap ng gulo at destabilisisasyon.”
He ended the statement with: “Hindi ito asal ng isang tunay na kapatid.”
As of this report, no formal investigation into the senator’s allegation has been announced.
