As the situation worsens in the Middle East, access to critical services for OFWs is becoming a growing concern for workers and their families. The Social Security System – SSS said its digital platforms remain fully operational, allowing members to access benefits and services remotely.
Through tools such as the My.SSS Portal, OFWs can continue filing claims and applying for loans without interruption. The assurance addresses rising uncertainty as regional tensions continue.
The SSS identified the My.SSS Portal as the main platform for uninterrupted transactions. Members can manage accounts, file benefit claims, and submit loan applications online, provided they meet the required conditions. This allows services to continue despite physical and mobility constraints in affected areas.
Among the available support is the unemployment benefit for OFWs who lose their jobs involuntarily. Applicants must secure certification from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and meet eligibility requirements. This ensures displaced workers can still access financial assistance during the crisis.
The agency also introduced the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) facial authentication feature. This system uses a liveness check to verify identity through smartphones. It reduces fraud risks and removes the need for in-person verification.
This feature becomes more relevant as travel remains limited in conflict-affected areas. Pensioners can complete compliance requirements safely from home. As a result, access to benefits remains uninterrupted even in high-risk environments.
“Even in these challenging times, our digital infrastructure ensures seamless service delivery,” Robert Joseph de Claro, SSS President, said, as the agency addressed concerns over service continuity.
As of the end of 2025, the SSS covers about 1.47 million OFWs, with over 540,000 active paying members. These figures show the scale of reliance on digital access. The agency continues to strengthen online systems to support members during crises.
