Nearly half of Filipinos disagree with the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to a national survey conducted by independent research firm WR Numero.

The survey, conducted from February 10 to 18, 2025, found that 47% of respondents oppose the impeachment, while 33% support it, and 20% remain undecided.

The results highlight regional divisions, with 66% of Mindanao residents opposing the impeachment, while 48% of Metro Manila respondents support it.

When asked about the likely outcome, 43% of Filipinos expressed uncertainty, while 34% believe Duterte should be acquitted, and 23% think she should be convicted.

The survey also reflects a decline in satisfaction ratings for key government officials. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s approval rating dropped from 45% in September 2024 to 30.1% in February 2025, the lowest since he assumed office in 2022.

When asked about his role in the impeachment proceedings, 56% of respondents said Marcos should remain neutral, while 24% wanted him to oppose the impeachment, and 20% supported it.

Vice President Duterte’s satisfaction rating also declined, dropping six points to 41%, her lowest since taking office. Despite this, 68% of Mindanao respondents approve of her performance, while Metro Manila recorded the highest dissatisfaction at 37%.

A previous survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) from December 12 to 18, 2024, commissioned by Stratbase Consultancy, showed a higher level of support for impeachment compared to the WR Numero poll.

In that survey, 41% of respondents supported Duterte’s impeachment, while 35% opposed it, and 19% were undecided. The strongest support for impeachment was recorded in Balance Luzon at 50%, while Mindanao showed the highest opposition at 56%, with only 22% supporting the move.

The SWS survey also found that support for impeachment was highest among higher-income groups (Classes A, B, C) at 50%, while Class E recorded the lowest support at 37%.

The WR Numero survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,814 Filipinos aged 18 and older, using a multi-stage probability sampling method to ensure representation across regions and socioeconomic classes.

The poll has a ±2.3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level. The SWS survey, which had 2,160 respondents, had a ±2% margin of error.
