Senator Erwin Tulfo firmly rejected suggestions that he could join forces with former vice president Leni Robredo as a tandem in the 2028 national elections, emphatically saying he is “tired” of political noise and is not interested in a higher post.
In dismissing the speculation, Tulfo told reporters that the idea of teaming up with Robredo — with her running for president and him as vice president — was not something he is pursuing. “I’m tired,” he said when asked about the discussions making the rounds in political circles.
Tulfo underscored that his focus remains on his current work in the Senate and that he is not planning an electoral bid for a higher position in 2028. He also noted that his brother, Raffy Tulfo, has similarly indicated he will not seek the presidency.
Asked specifically about the idea of Robredo as presidential candidate, Tulfo said any decision on that front is up to her and her supporters, adding that he wants “to avoid issues” and is not inclined toward campaign talk so far ahead of the election. “I really want to focus on work,” he said.
His remarks came amid a wider chatter about potential alliances and oppositional strategies as the national political landscape begins to shift ahead of 2028, but Tulfo made it clear that speculations linking him to a Robredo ticket are unfounded.
