Typhoon Tino wreaked havoc across Negros Occidental, leaving agricultural, fisheries, and infrastructure damages totaling P382.3 million. The provincial government anticipates further increases in the total cost as more areas report the extent of the destruction.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) reported that agriculture losses amounted to P28.5 million, affecting 1,229 farmers in 99 barangays across 13 local government units. Rice production took the hardest hit, suffering a loss of P24.8 million, while corn and high-value crops faced damages of P387,682 and P3.2 million, respectively.
Fisheries in two LGUs experienced damage worth P6.47 million. Meanwhile, infrastructure damage, tallied at P347.3 million, severely impacted cities such as Sipalay, Isabela, and Bago, alongside several others in the region.
The typhoon also left 1,943 houses destroyed and caused damage to 11,336 homes across 11 LGUs. Local authorities continue to assess the full impact, with residents and officials bracing for more aftershocks from the disaster.
